Used in the treatment and prevention of Fe-deficiency and concomitant folic acid deficiency with associated deficient intake or increased need for vit B-complex in nonpregnant adults; vit B-complex deficiencies.
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Best taken between meals. May be taken w/ meals to reduce GI discomfort. Swallow whole; do not chew/crush tab.
Special Precautions: Pernicious anemia. Patients w/ chronic renal failure & receiving acetylsalicylic acid. Hematologic remission may occur while neurological manifestations remain progressive. Serum B12 levels should be regularly assessed in elderly & patients w/ condition leading to vit B12 depletion. Fe therapy could induce relapse of erythropoietic protoporphyria. Pregnancy & lactation.
