Mupirocin (Bactroban) ointment is indicated for the topical treatment of primary bacterial skin infections such as folliculitis, impetigo, furunculosis, and ecthyma, secondary bacterial skin infections such as infected eczema and infected traumatic lesions (abrasions, insect bites, minor wounds and burns not requiring hospitalization), and to avoid bacterial contamination/prevent infection of small wounds.
