"DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION Reduction of precipitating acute gout: Initiate after at least 2 weeks treatment of colchicine 100 mg daily by mouth initially, increased by 100 mg daily at weekly intervals (maximum of 800 mg/day) until the concentration of uric acid serum is reduced to about 60 mcg per ml Mild Gout : 100 mg to 300 mg daily Moderately Severe Gout: 400 mg to 600 mg daily Severe Gout: 900 mg daily Hyperuricaemia/ prevention of uric acid nephropathy associated with cancer therapy: 600 mg to 800 mg daily in divided doses for 2 to 3 days and starting 1 to 2 days before the cancer treatment Or as prescribed by the physician. Note: Best taken after meals in order to reduce gastric irritation. "
